| Viking knitting, one of the oldest known forms of “knitting”, is actually a looping technique that preceded traditional knitting by centuries. Many Viking Knit chains were found buried in tombs of some of the most famous and powerful Vikings.
The actual “knitting” is done by hand on a single dowel with thin gauge wire. Most people enjoy the rhythmic process of weaving the wire – it’s a project that travels well and is beautiful no matter if you use copper, fine silver or artistic wire. It is finished by pulling your work through a draw plate to smooth it out and elongate your work.
